Ahoi
So Ive loaded Live and Reason, opened an audio and midi track in Live for my NN 19 instrument and every thing works when I play it.
But, how does one record the Reason instrument then? I can only get the NN 19 to a) play if the pattern button (matrix) is on..and
b) loop over and over.
When I record it in Live's audio track I get the audio and its drawn as normal. But it wont play if the pattern button in Reason is not on, which makes it loop?? Question
It's possible that you cant record the rewired instruments, and you have to just run Reason simultaneously and loop the instruments? Or what's the deal with rewired instruments..this is my first attempt and I'm very close to done with the track.
Please help
Gracias

Re: Rewiring Reasn into Ableton question
Sun, June 22, 2008 - 9:14 PMHmmm....at least you are getting a signal so that means you are on the right track...I assume that you are trying this in Session View. I know that you have the track armed to record and receive incoming audio from reason but have you clicked in one of the clip windows to get it to record a clip? If you happen to do this in Arrangement view you need to make sure that the record button at the top of the Arrangement window is armed as well....Does this make sense?

cheers mate...yeah Im on the right track
I have tried all form of recording in both Arrengment and Session view, arming either the midi or audio track. I set it up like this..............
www.youtube.com/watch
so Reason comes from the Audio channel, and when I record it a get audio drawn as if there is a file created, but it doesnt play the recorded part if the pattern button is not on...that's what I tried to explain in 1st post.
So for now to satisfy my needs I've recorded the NN 19 as wav. file in Sound Forge and imported it into Live as sample. But I def. don't wanne do it this way seeing as it is easy to just do it directly w/ Reason.
So here my Q: Can one record the instrument indep. from running Reason, or do both applications always have to be running?
Thanks

Re: Rewiring Reasn into Ableton question
Mon, June 23, 2008 - 3:46 PMSorry, I'm not really sure what you want, but I've recorded from Reason into Live through rewire. Just set up a new audio track to feed from the channel that Reason is inbound on and play it through. I hope that's what you meant. If not, there's some useless info for ya. -

Re: Rewiring Reasn into Ableton question
Mon, June 23, 2008 - 5:08 PMYeah the Tutorial does a great job of setting up channels from Reason into Live but not to actually RECORD any of them.....you will have to click on a circle in one of the empty clips to get Ableton to record a clip or you have to go to the top to click on the record button at the top of the window next to the playback button....I always record my reason stuff as clips as that is the easiest way to go about it. -

Re: Rewiring Reasn into Ableton question
Sat, June 28, 2008 - 12:22 PMWhile I am thinking about it...have you RECORDED any of your own clips in the session view? Try Ableton's tutorial with something like Simpler or Impulse in how to make a clip and I think a little light will go off. The only thing you are doing differently is using Reason as an input source instead of one of Ableton's instruments. -

Re: Rewiring Reasn into Ableton question
Sun, June 29, 2008 - 4:28 AMIt sounds like you have left the channel's input monitoring switch to "In' so you only hear incoming signals - switch to Auto to hear the audio you recorded on the channel.
Then you can close Reason and forget about it. -
