This may seem obvious, but can you use a usb hub with midi controllers? Are there any problems with doing so? I'm about to switch from a Firewire audio out to a usb one, and I'm also running two usb midi controllers, so I need to know if I'm asking for trouble since I only have two usb ports on my computer.

They do work, but you may find that they override other USB devices. I've had this problem while using a USB hub with my M-Audio Trigger Finger and O2 in Live - I had a USB wireless mouse and it kills the mouse functionality when I fire up Live and it senses the USB MIDI controllers...it may just be a cheap hub though...I definitely wouldn't advise using the USB audio interface on the hub though - plug that directly into your USB port.

I have never had the problem with overriding other devices, but I agree with the interface tip.
There are some things that don't work at all on a hub - like the Virus TI.
Also know that the hub will only be as fast as the slowest USB connection. So 2.0 USB will be slower if slower devices are in the chain.
