So I have been a Ableton user since version 5 "know using Live 7".. I definately enjoy the ease of use but I have to say honestly that as I have been advancing in knowledge in all aspects of production & composition.. I notice a lot of people complain about lives audio engine and honestly I feel this is a rookie complaint. I feel that live is actually quite honest with you, in fact if the mix sounds bad then your the one to blame. I have been geeting all sorts of ooh's and ahh's using live and my book given knowledge, where as other daw's "logic" I feel over color and utalize the hell out of a stereo imaging preset allgorhythim.. So moving forward my problem is not with the sound engine, it is however with the amount of possibilities one has to use in order to maximize creativity from audio clip edditing, midi options (edditing and such) and profesionalism with it's audio plugins and interface use. I feel it is to focused on chance and not allowing it's users complete hands on control.
There for this live user is moving on to cubase.. Anyone out there have any good feedback with this?

Use both. They both do things the other doesn't (or at least not as intuitively).
Do what you know how to do comfortably in ableton and then bounce the results individually and import them into cubase. It will give you a different overview of your track and you can go crazy with cubase's superior offline editing functions.
I've been experimenting with bouncing full track length stems out of songs I'ev written in ableton and then importing them into Nuendo for the final editing and mixdown. So far the results have been nice. I can't honestly say I hear a huge quality difference but I'll end up doing final tweaks and last minute arrangement things that I otherwise wouldn't have done had it remained in live.

hey cervantes, using both can be very fun actually. i've been a cubase user for 5 years and i'll never change that as my main sequencer:-)

But, when i was introduced to Live, I started using it as a rewire slave in cubase adding all kinds of options that cubase couldn't offer. Plus its great as a mashup tool, nothing out there even comes close.

its definitely wise to be versed in many applications. Also, its nearly impossible to perform a live set with cubase.
