Owen Vallis is a producer/composer whose interests have involved him in everything from producing indie bands such as LA's Rumspringa, building multi-touch interfaces with collaborator Jordan Hochenbaum, and performing live electronic music with artist Jeff Lufkin as the group Speakers.
Born in Canada, Owen moved first to San Fransisco where he DJ'd and began composing music, and then later to Nashville where he began to produce. In 2005, Owen moved to Los Angeles to attend Cal-Art's music tech program for his BFA.
During his last year at Cal-Arts Owen worked both on the construction of a multi-touch table and was part of the group who ported the monome to the arduino platform. He is currently working towards a PhD in multi-media engineering, teaching at CalArts, and recently became the director of technology and special projects for Slogan Music in Hollywood.
Owen has always been fascinated with the intersection of technology and art, feeling that the meeting of the two can bring about new areas of artistic creativity.
