I thought I had this problems fixed but I guess it isn't. I am having dropouts when triggering new tracks on my macbook pro. I have read this is an issue with the intel macbook pros and am wondering if anyone has any advice.
my settings are:
1024 buffer size
input latency 26.3
output latency 26.8
driver error compensation 0
overall latency 53.1

i have a laptop chill pad running so computer is not hot and my cpu never gets up over 20%
this is a new computer and i have no problems with it other than this- 2gb ram, all music files on my laptops hard drive...., 2.4ghz cpu

i am going to try troubleshooting some more but i have a big party coming up in a week so any help is much appreciated!

  • whoa...
it looks like, from what you've written, that you've got a massive buffer and your latency is huge!... so much that I can't imagine that your dropouts could be Ableton's fault...
though, I've found that my soundcard, an Echo Indigo, has two different buffer settings. Perhaps your soundcard has it's own software that needs configuring. I've tried the lowest, 64 samples, without success w/ a 2GHz dual core... 128 works great, though.
    • drop the buffer way back, and do the same with your latency... i am running the 2.5 pro. at 70 samples buffer, with an overall latency of .03. Yhis also worked well with my 2.33 pro...

also, check the mac audio/midi utility, and see itf the format (44100hz vs. whatever) matches your abelton prefs for "inout sample rate". Also, if you cycle between formats in the audio/midi , it removes crackle, etc.
