Fixed the problem.. The second time it was because of a vst. which became faulty when I installed a new sound preset folder. Don't ask me how I found that one out as only you the user no when and what you have installed on your machine.
Also please excuse me if you had mentioned wheter or not you are using a fully licensed copy or not.
O.k I just read your crash report.. You do have a licensed copy.. However certain plugs don't appear to be licensed.. One in-particular seems to be the issue.. If you private message me I can further discuss the issue as it might be easier to handle this matter in a less social area.
I should also say that mismatching gig sticks is a big no no smart guy.. Especially when ableton and mac both try two distribute cpu loads equally. Anyway you should read up more on that... When you have time of course.

Thanks for replying!
The mis-matched RAM doesn't have sufficient slowdown to offset the benefit of the additional 2 GB RAM (according to multiple online benchmark tests). Apple doesn't "officially" condone the use of greater than 4 GB RAM, but that's generally assumed that the Macbook Pro came out before the 4 GB stick was widely available, and they didn't want to change their literature and policies. I was actually told this in the Apple store, so I don't think I'm being foolish for believing it.

I zap the PRAM and VRAM all the time, so that, I can definitively say, is not the problem. I also ran Memtest and all the memory checked out OK. The results were slightly confusing, as everything seemed to clear, but at the beginning it said "memory lock failed". I can't find any definition of what exactly "memory lock" is, so any info there would be much appreciated.

Hey all,
I'm running Live 7 on a Macbook Pro with 6 GB RAM (a 4 GB stick and a 2 GB stick, and they both check out both when I check the RAM with the OS as well as with 3rd party software) and 120 GB free HD space . Live opens up fine, but when I try to open a saved file (ie, all my sets and previous saved work) it either says that I have "insufficient memory" or just "quits unexpectedly" (ie crashes). It has been working just fine for months - and now this.
I deleted all my live files (not including old saved work which is on a disconnected external drive), and reinstalled - but it still has the same problem.
Has anybody else encountered this problem, and have you been able to fix it?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I contacted Live, but they sent back an email saying that they were very busy and would get back to me "eventually" (I assume they've been swamped with "when can I buy Live 8" emails).
