I've been using Live since version 5. I have never, ever, ever been able to sync my external hardware with, say, tracks I buy and warp to the first beat. I know this is due to latency and I know how to fix it when the monitoring is turned off... My question is , is there really away to find that sweet spot where I can play my midi slaved hardware and keep it in time with tracks arranged as mentioned at the beginning of this post.
thanks in advance.

Re: hardware/live track syncing
Sat, September 20, 2008 - 7:50 PMNeither me or antbody else that I know have been able to get any external boxes to sync correctly with ableton.
I'ev gotten it pretty close before but then after saving, closing, and reopening the project it was off again.
It's quirky and unpredictable and not even worth thinking about imo. -

Re: hardware/live track syncing
Thu, October 16, 2008 - 12:00 PMI actually got it to work with just the midi sync. I'm using an electibe SX for extra noise/fun factor. Instead of tackling the latency issue through audio, midi is the ticket. I've turned the groove off my tracks (set to straight) so things don't flow out of position on me and althought the electribe's groove can't be turned down, I'm not looking at adding yet another kick to my mix but rather anything else and it works great! FYI my midi setting is -33ms

Re: hardware/live track syncing
Thu, October 16, 2008 - 3:21 PMyeah, i use a sound triggered module all the time, or midi controlled analog kicks during live sets with even my tables, let alone with ableton.
you can figure it out, shouldnt be any problems
